We here at Tentacle Kitty are proud to show our support for CONsent: The Importance of Treating Cosplayers with Respect. This project’s goal is to bring attention to the harassment cosplayers deal with as they go to conventions. “Some can be as seemingly harmless and annoying as not asking for permission before taking a picture or bothering them for a picture or interview while they were taking a water or food break. But the majority of the stories were more serious and ranged from threats of violence to inappropriate touching, and from lewd facebook messages to stalking.” This is a serious problem that should have more attention. Cosplayers spend hundreds of hours creating fantastic works of art that they can wear to show their love for their favorite works of fiction. They should be commended on their work and their dedication, not harassed, belittled or abused. We encourage all of you to check out http://www.16bitsirens.com/consent/ and see for yourself the stories they have collected (and the stories being told in the comments). Hopefully this might promote more people to help their fellow fans to share in this wonderful pastime without negative comments and actions. If you are interested in getting involved, be sure to email them and they can fill you in on more of the technical details!~~^-^~~ TK Team
